I’ll be the first to admit it—I’m terrible at shaving my legs. You’d think that after 20+ years of doing it, I’d have figured out how to do it without cutting myself by now, but no dice.
This month, my GlossyBox came with a sample Gillette Venus Embrace razor. The first thing I thought was, “Oh great, another instrument of torture for my poor legs…”
Not so!
First of all, the razor has five blades. Five. This means that the shave is incredibly close. I shaved my legs on Saturday morning & it still feels like I just did them. Trust me when I tell you that this is not usually the case. I’m French. That means I have French body hair. Oh yes. I am hirsute. The pivoting head hugged my curves perfectly, catching every little hair (even the ones I normally miss).
Secondly, that moisture strip really moisturizes. I normally slather on the body butter post-shave, & it simply wasn’t necessary this time!
Finally, that no-slip grip really no slips. Maybe I’m just clumsier than the next baby animal, but I drop things constantly, especially in the shower. This could contribute to the ribbons most razors make of my legs. But this thing stayed put in my hand & was no problem at all.
While the refill blades aren’t cheap (a four pack will run you about $20), I definitely see this being my go-to summertime razor (I’ll stick with my electric when I’m covered up this winter).
Verdict: excellent.
