LookBook: Week Of January 29th To February 4th

So, I’m biting the fashion bullet, as it were. I’ve decided to start posting outfit photos. All the other style bloggers are doing it, so why not me?

Recording my outfits is something I’ve been doing for a couple of years on paper, but photos are a whole new step. Posting them online is an act of bravery for me. Regular photos of me on the internet? Think of the haterz!

So, I’ve decided to not think of the haterz. Silence, ye who say all style bloggers must be tiny! Shush, you who just don’t like me & are looking for excuses to complain! Hooray to a couple of wonderful Twitter ladies (NadineAllison, I’m looking at you crazy kids) who gave me the push I needed this week.

Gulp.

Here we go.

Monday:

Black fold-over ankle boots//Dr. Scholl’s (similar)
Black ribbed leggings//Giant Tiger (similar)
Charcoal jersey pencil skirt//Joe Fresh (similar)
Purple vintage sweater//thrifted (similar)
Cameo multi-strand necklace//Ardène (similar)
Pink heart crystal earrings//Dollarama (similar)

Also I clearly need to work on both looking natural in front of the camera, posing, & lighting. Also maybe cleaning up my office a leetle teensy bit.

Tuesday:

Black patent leather zipper flats//L.E.I. (similar)
Black lace stockings//Suzy Shier (similar)
Black & white houndstooth jersey vintage skirt pencil skirt//thrifted (similar)
Turquoise thermal long-sleeved T-shirt//Old Navy (similar)
Black zippered short-sleeved hooded sweater//Suzy Shier (similar)
Turquoise & rhinestone hoop earrings//Ardène (similar)

I need to work on not standing like a weirdo.

Wednesday:

Black high buckle shoes//T.U.K. (similar)
Black striped stockings//Foot Traffic
Black, red & pink floral strapless full-skirt dress//Le Château (similar)
Pink V-neck T-shirt//Giant Tiger (similar)
Black velvet vintage St. Michel blazer//thrifted (similar)
Silver & pink floral necklace//Ardène (similar)

Trying something a little new today, with the PicFrame app for iPhone. This is also totally my favourite outfit of the week. I felt fantastic. Like a sexy ringleader.

Thursday:

Black patent leather oxfords//Christian Siriano for Payless (similar)
Black stockings//We Love Colors
Black ruffle back skirt//Ricki’s (similar)
Black T-shirt//Giant Tiger (similar)
Purple oversize cardigan//Old Navy
Black elastic belt//Giant Tiger (similar)

I think this cardigan is now relegated to weekend wear. It’s a bit big for such a tailored skirt.

Friday:

Black & silver glitter stacked heel pumps//Taryn Rose (similar)
Black striped fishnets//Suzy Shier (similar)
Magenta ruffle back skirt//Le Château (this skirt basically doesn’t exist… anywhere)
Black V-neck T-shirt//American Apparel
Black & white heathered cardigan//Philosophy (similar)
Pewter drop earrings//Ardène (similar)

I love this cardigan but I feel like the combination with this skirt is a little off. Also it makes me look a little chubby. (I was listening to Doug Loves Movies with Paul F. Tompkins, which is why I’m laughing so hard.)

Saturday:

Black Delaine boots//Uggs
Black lace-trimmed leggings//Giant Tiger (similar)
Pink & coral striped tank top//Faded Glory (similar)
Black & grey print drapey cardigan//People’s Liberation (similar)
Lucite hoop earrings//Ardène (similar)

Ooh, serious face.

So, that’s what I wore this week, you guys!

Tuesday and Friday are my favourite, but they’re all great. And my daughter saw this and loves your hair and said “how old is she? She looks like a teenager.”

And I don’t follow many style bloggers, but the ones I’ve seen definitely aren’t all tiny. Just turn me loose on the haterz – it’s February and I have crankiness to channel.

      Your daughter gets kisses!

good for you! I used to post outfits almost daily on flickr (the wardrobe remix group) and it was a fun visual diary. also. I definitely put more thought into my outfits when I knew I’d be photographing them, haha – maybe I should start again…

    • jeslacasse

You should! It’s a really fun exercise for me, because it means I put a lot more thought into my outfits.

You’ve inspired me! I need to get out of this outfit rut I’m in.
        there’s no way I’m going to take a pic every day… I’m aiming for 3-4 a week :)

        • jeslacasse

That’s great! I hope you hit that goal!

Can I suggest an improvement without being a hater? Consider wearing more face powder/foundation and sh*tloads of eye makeup. I’m just sayin’, the camera likes a made up face, especially when combined with pink hair.

    • jeslacasse

Thanks for the tip, Bee! Constructive criticism doesn’t make one a hater. I’ll make more of a makeup effort this week!

I love ALL of your tights! Like, with a vengeance. Ditto for you houndstooth skirt.

I’m simultaneously intimidated and intrigued by foldover boots. I’ve been eyeing this pair warily…I think they’re winning me over.

      You need those boots.
